From the Foster:  

Abigail is a wonderful dog and a great burst of energy for almost any home.  She loves her people and loves spending time cuddling on the couch or playing in the backyard.  She’s very curious and likes to be by your side whenever she can – she’s a great companion.  Her favorites are cuddling on the couch, chewing on elk antlers/Kong toys, and getting tummy rubs.  She can be high energy and sometimes needs to run, jump and play, but most of the time it’s because she is so excited to see you!  She loves walks, although she still pulls on the leash at times, but she has gotten much better over just a month.  

She would be a great fit in a household that could accommodate her moderate to high energy and be a little patient with her.  While sometimes a little rambunctious, she is very loving, goofy and overall a lot of fun – she has a little bit of puppy left in her.

She knows basic commands (sit, lay-down, stay) and we’re currently working on heel.  She is a very fast learner and responds well to treats.  She does great in her crate during the day and at night but can also be allowed to sleep on the bed without worrying about accidents or getting into trouble.  She has not been allowed out of her crate unsupervised to this point.  She is house trained and will let you know when she has to go outside.  She has had very few accidents in the house and those have been the fault of an unobservant Foster parent.

She does well with other dogs, but would work best in a home with another moderate to high energy dog as she loves to play!  She is great when meeting new people and is very polite.  She also does great at the groomer and doesn’t mind people touching her feet or clipping her nails.  She would probably do best in a house rather than an apartment as she does tend to bark at strange noises at times.

Once you meet her, you’ll fall in love with her!  She is truly an exceptional dog that will bring so much to any household.  Abigail is recovering from Heart Worm treatment and is happy and healthy and ready to go home with a new family on April 2.

All dogs are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities.
