From the Foster: Beautiful miss Bailey is awaiting her forever home! She is probably a purebred Maltese, and is a very calm, laid back girl. She wants nothing more than to sit on a lap all day long (belly rubs are a big plus!), or lay by you no matter what you are doing. She isn't anxious, whiny or barky. The only thing I have noticed is that she is a little bit weird (growly) with dog food in a bowl, and sometimes when you pick her up or pet her and she is feeling nervous. I have tested her very aggressively on this to see what she really means (butt poking while she's eating, sticking my hand in the bowl), and she doesn't bite or snap no matter what, but because of this, I think I feel better saying she is best for a home without kids (although for the record I have 4 & 8 year olds and she is totally fine with them) but I might consider an ideal home with kids over 10. She seems to gravitate towards older adults anyway, and I really think that she is just scared, and doesn't know who to trust. That is very common with dogs that have had a confusing several weeks (or longer) as she has, and I think it will all improve dramatically with time.
Bailey is excellent in her crate, has only had one accident in my home the first day (EVERY dog does this in a new home, they just do) and is also fine left out in the house. She is not destructive at all, not barky, not hyper. She is one of the quietest dogs I have ever fostered. She has an AMAZING smile and she gives it to you all of the time.
Bailey is totally fine with my two dogs, and I'm SURE she would be just fine with cats. She is just plain easy going. We don't know what her past life was, but her back legs and tail are very stained, which tells me that she suffered some neglect. Her long coat is in good shape and as it is maltese hair, it will require AT LEAST weekly combing to prevent mats.
Surgeries are running behind, and she will not be spayed and ready to move to her new home until 5/20, but she sure is ready to meet her new family! I will be shocked if she isn't scooped up within a day or two!
All dogs are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities.
