From the Foster:
Packer's a big ole lovebug who loves every person and dog he meets. He's fully house-trained, and doesn't need a crate--he can be left unattended in the house while we're gone and can wander the house at night without chewing on or destroying anything. Also not much of a barker. Commands he knows are sit, stay, and come. (But "down" tends to really confuse him.)
We're currently working on getting him to sit in front of an open door without going outside it until we say to. He's actually doing really well at that, especially given that we've only just started working on it. And while I know his previous owners said he was a runner, I'm not sure that's really the case. To be honest, I think that may have been a result of Packer just not getting enough exercise (which also explains why he's such a chunk!). With plenty of walks and fetch time, he's far more interested in cuddling up to his humans and staying as close to us as possible. I'd still recommend keeping him on a harness rather than a simple leash/collar combo for walks, but part of that is simply due to his strength and size--he does great walking with us.
He loves having his ears played with and his belly scratched. Thinks he's a lapdog, which is hilarious at 75 lbs. Just a joyful, wonderful guy who really loves people. Honestly, if Green Bay wasn't just a state away, I'd say he was called Packer for being such a pack animal -- someone's gonna be really lucky to have him.
All dogs are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities.
