From the Foster:
My foster mommy has no idea how I was a stray. She says I am one of the sweetest, smartest puppies she has ever met. When she saw my picture on facebook and that I needed a temporary home for my family and me, she said there was no way she could pass me by. There has not been one person that I have met that I haven't been a a total love to, in fact, my foster uncle was here and after he got done patting me I pranced around like a sweet princess. Even when I first arrived I let everyone see and hold my puppies and that never bothered me. I don't bark much, if my foster mommy is ok with them, then I am totally fine and don't make a peep (tho the other dogs in my foster family never stop barking!). I don't jump up on people either (but my best friend Libby, the goldenoodle, jumps all the time and people get mad about it) and so when people see me sitting there all nicely, they can't help but pat me and tell me what a good girl I am.
When I first arrived at my foster families house I was as cool as a cucumber when I met the little chi and morkie, Carlos and Maddie. But when I met Libby and Socs, I was on high alert because they were bigger and I had babies to protect! But, my foster mommy played it really cool until I was able to get adjusted and now Libby is my bestie. I even went to my foster mommies friends house and met her big dog and I did SOOO well. My foster mommy said I am super laid back now and with a proper introduction, I should be good with anyone. I did hear her cats meowing, but I walked away from that-but the jury is still out on if I would like to play with them or hunt them. I did catch a bird the third day I was here and my foster mommy was not happy. She said we don't eat any other animals, but I am a hunter. I want to get those pesky squirrels and birds, so I should really be watched when on a walk. Other than that, when on a walk I did excellent. I love going for walks and I like to walk in the grass and smell EVERYTHING!
I had a little food aggression towards the other dogs when I first arrived, but if you saw me, you would know why. I was skin and bone. My foster mommy said she would fix that! And she did. She may have given me a few extra treats, but I will never admit that again! Now, anyone, person or doggy, can come over to me when I am chewing on a bone or eating and I could care less! I get it now that I am safe and will never have to search for a meal again. I don't even care if my foster mommies 4 and 5 year old humans take my bone or play with me while I am eating. I LOVE children. Actually, I love anyone and everyone willing to pet me. Oh, and I absolutely LOVE getting brushed! It feels so good!
I know how to sit and I am working on laying down and shaking! I naturally put my paw out and got it right away. My foster mommy said I am very food motivated and so I will do just about anything for a treat! She also said I am very eager to please. I just feel so safe now that I will do anything for love and attention from you. Even if it means I have to do silly things like shake first.
I am totally potty trained too! In fact, the second night I was at my foster mommies house I got sick and refused to go to the bathroom in the house at all costs. The reason my foster mommy knows this is because I threw up, I had a little accident and then I jumped out the WINDOW! Right out...I jumped back in though because I am such a good mommy and had to get back to my babies. My foster mommy said she wouldn't have believe it unless she had seen the paw prints and nose marks on the window. But, I did that once and only because I was in dire need. Since then I have not done anything like that. I even pushed the screen door open when I had to go out and rang the silly bell they have to go out (I guess that is what the other dogs do too). So, you should know I am smart and can figure out how to open a door that doesn't latch properly.
When I first came here, all I really did was sleep and eat and take care of my puppies! I was all business. But, I have now learned how to be a puppy, since I really am a young gal. They think I am only 1-2 years old - I LOVE LOVE LOVE to play. As you can see in some of my pictures I am playing with my foster sister Libby and my baby Valentino. We got a hold of my foster mommies sock and had a good game of tug-of-war. I also get along really well with my foster brother Carlos, the little chi. He is a rescue puppy too and my foster mommy thinks we are about the same age. I really like to play with him, sometimes I am a little rough with him (he only weighs 7 pounds) but I don't try to hurt him. I also respect the other two dogs that don't want much to do with me. There is cranky Maddie that doesn't like anyone but my foster mommy and she growls at us when we invade her space. I guess she is old and doesn't want to play like we do. Now that I know that, I just leave them alone-which my foster mommy thinks is wonderful. At my foster mommies home they have these toys that make noise... the ones that talk I bring to my bed because I might think it is my baby, no one is sure why I do this....and the squeaky ones I carry all over the place and LOVE. I have one in particular that my foster mommy said I could bring with me when I find my forever home.
All in all, my foster mommy said I am a super good mommy, a super smart girl, extremely playful, fully trained and eager to please, which would make me perfect for just about any home. She also wanted me to say that she will miss me dearly. I guess she really does love me a lot and she thinks you will too!
All dogs are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities.
