From the Foster: Zane recently arrived at SHH and I will update with more information as we get to know him better, but for now I can say the following about him:
Zane is a total lover! He's 6 pounds of snuggle. He loves to be carried around, and will sleep in your lap for a very good portion of the day. I take him to work with me and he just curls up in my lap and most people don't even notice he's there!
Like any good chihuahua, he's got some vocalness to him, but it seems to only come out when playing. He loves to bark at the cats and our dogs. You can almost hear him saying "Come on guys! play! play! play!" As for the cats, he's definitely a chaser! I'm guessing that will decrease as he gets older, there doesn't seem to be any aggression - just hyper puppies chasing kitties! He loves our dogs, and after some play time they snuggle up together and sleep.
So far he's pretty good in the crate after about 10 or 15 minutes of complaining. Then he settles down with a kong or a bone and sleeps. He makes it 6 or 7 hours at night, which for a 10 week old puppy is pretty impressive!
We are working on potty training, but he's pretty new to that game! He really dislikes the cold and going outside, but he will go potty when we bring him out and luckily for the humans that take him, he goes REALLY quickly and then wants to race back inside! He makes the silliest complaining & grunting noises the whole time while outside too. You'd have to hear it to believe it! We are also using piddle pads for inside and while he doesn't have the concept down completely, I don't think it will take a long time to get there.
All dogs are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities.
