From the Foster: Babie is just the cutest little scruffy terrier you could want with the most adorable personality!  She is so loving and playful and spunky and holds her own with the other dogs in my house.  She will take toys and put them on the futon then protect them from the other dogs.  She is ok if they get a toy but it is like she is playing “queen of the hill’.  She will also pile all the toys together and lay on top of them.  She has a bit of an alpha personality.   She enjoys wrestling and playing with the other dogs and I  think she’d like another dog to play with but I suspect she might be ok as an “only child” as long as she has quality play time with compassionate loving children or an adult.  But, when she is ready to relax she is happily curled up in my husband’s lap or at his feet and at bedtime she sleeps great in our bed.  I don’t know her history background but she came through it enjoying people’s attention, quick to give kisses and she is not shy or clingy!

She usually only barks outside and then if another dog is already barking.  She is a fast walker on a harness and just wants to go.   She is also a great traveler in the car.

We have a fenced in yard and when not playing with the dogs she runs and plays on her own, rolling in the grass.  Sometimes she just sits or lays in the shade and will enjoy the breeze and watch everything going on around her.  She would really be happiest in a fenced in yard.  She is small but she has a large exploring spirit!   Babie and I visited a friend with a 30 lb dog, cats and several preschool children.  Babie was a little anxious for about a second and when the dog came to her she yipped at him to stand her ground all the while wagging her tail.  Then the playing cautiously started.  She went up to a cat and they were nose to nose.  No problem!  Later she went up to the cat again and the cat pawed at her and Babie just went back to playing with the dog.  There were several small children there and she was sweet with all of them even licking them.  However, they were gentle and kind with her.  She is so small; if she is around children they must be very compassionate and kind with her.

She hasn’t been crated while in my foster care.  As far as housetraining the  first day here, like almost every other foster I get, they tend to mark in the house.  We have a large house which can be overwhelming for a dog at first with housetraining.  We have been sequestered off in the kitchen and a small room that goes into the back yard.  Not one accident since she has this space during the day. We are opening the house more every day and she is still doing well but she does have access to go outside when she needs to.  And, she makes it 8 hours with us when we sleep.  So, with structure she is doing really well at this point

She is the sweetest dog, a great playmate, and a wonderful lap dog.  She’s just an angel to have around and should adopt quickly to the right family!

All dogs are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities.
