Catahoula Leopard Dog (short coat) : : Female : : Adult : : Large Learn more about the Catahoula Leopard Dog.
Name: Louise
From the Foster: Louise arrived here from Texas in the middle of a cold & snowy period and it was a bit of a shock for her at first, but she’s adapted well! She knows outdoor is for doing business, but indoors if for getting pets & napping on the sofa or under the table in hopes of a tasty treat magically appearing!
We actually decided she is more of a Lulu than a Louise and she is a total sweetheart! She loves to get pets! Initially she was quite nervous, but still good with pets, and stayed mostly in one room of the house and wasn’t sure about our resident dog. She has warmed up a lot, venturing throughout the house and playing some with the dog. She’ll even jockey with him for maximum petting positioning! She will occasionally even put her paws on him to get higher so she’s easier to reach!
But she is still nervous…any sudden noise, like something falling on the ground, startles her. She is fine with new people & happily lets them pet her, but takes a bit to warm up to them. She is quite comfortable now asking us for belly rubs but won’t do that with new people.
She is the best behaved girl! With the exception of a crayon, she hasn’t chewed on anything she shouldn’t. She doesn’t need to be crated when we leave the house and doesn’t make a fuss. The only time she’s barked is if she’s awakened by something, but settles quickly once she realizes what it is. While she loves pets, she isn’t overly needy…she content to curl up on the sofa while I work.
She was kept outdoors as part of a backyard breeding operation in Texas, so house living it new to her, so she will need an adopter who is willing to help her continue to gain confidence. But she has made great strides and is so ready to love & be loved! So come meet this sweetheart!
