From the Foster:

Robyn is an optimistic hound with a great personality and a big voice! Her favorite things are food, people, and car rides. Robyn would do best in a home that is moderately active and can exercise her mentally and physically every day. As a hound, she uses her voice to communicate. Robyn needs to be in a home where hound yells are acceptable. She would not do well in an apartment.

Robyn loves food. Are you in the kitchen? So is Robyn. Are you opening a bag? Perhaps it contains treats for Robyn. She doesn't even need to be told to sit--she is sitting ready and waiting for you. Sometimes she has tippy tappy toes, she is so excited about food. Because she is so excited about food, we are teaching her patience by doing a sit, wait, and release for her daily dental chew and mealtimes. Meals are in a slow-feed bowl. Also because she loves food, Robyn needs to be contained in a crate or gated room when no one is home. She has an excellent nose for finding treats. One of her favorite games is finding treats in the yard.

Robyn loves people. LOVES people. If you want a guard dog, she is not it. She politely sniffs newcomers into the home and will sometimes "sing" for them if they are people she has met before. She has met plumbers, electricians, gardeners, and more. They are all her friends. She mourns the loss of any visitors that leave the home, but she recovers quickly. She loves couch snuggles and does her best to "trap" her snuggle buddies by sitting on them.

Robyn loves car rides a little too much. Car door is open? Must mean a car ride for Robyn! Every car ride is an excuse to yell and sing about a new adventure. We have mitigated this with frozen peanut butter kongs and a designated area in the back of the vehicle.

We can't take credit for how good she is on walks. She ignores squirrels, bikers, runners, and strollers, but she will sniff walkers because they are all potential best friends. If we stop during a walk, she protests with a yell. How dare we stop moving? She would love a home that can take her on long walks or slow runs. Due to her age and unknown history she may have some arthritis in her back knees. Nothing a little supplement can't fix!

Robyn over excites when encountering other dogs on walks. She will yell and pull a bit but does not jump. She can be easily redirected with treats but gets too excited to respond to verbal commands alone. It is a work in progress. She does best with slow introductions to new dogs, so she has ample time to calm down. Robyn gets along well with dogs that have mild or submissive temperaments, or are smaller size. Once she gets to know another dog and is comfortable around them, she loves to play and adventure together.

Robyn is not aware of how big she is and would do best in a home with older children or no children. She can get a big overexcited during play, we are training her to grab a toy instead of a human when she is extra excited.

Robyn is up for adoption because she is assertive with other dogs in the home. She came to us one year ago from a home that created a lot of anxiety for her. Over the last year she has blossomed into a confident hound. However because of this she is unable to stay in our home, because we have an assertive dog already. We have become her fosters in an effort to minimize the stress of rehoming and ensure Robyn has a great future with a new family.

Hello! I arrived at Secondhand Hounds with a lump on my neck and shoulder. A veterinarian had examined these lumps prior but the SHH Vet Team would like to investigate further by testing the cells in the lumps. It is important for my future adopter to know that I have further medical care being completed by SHH regarding these lumps.
