Name: Carrie Other Requirements: Requires fenced yard
From Secondhand Hounds: Hello! Throughout my veterinary care at Secondhand Hounds, it was discovered that I had a struvite bladder stone. Struvite bladder stones are commonly formed in dogs due to urinary tract infection so it is important my future adopters monitor this to prevent/treat urinary tract infections early. The stone has been removed but my adopter's should work with a primary veterinarian to monitor my bladder health. From the Foster: Hi there, My name is Carrie and I am the world’s cutest 6 year old mini Schnauzer, which I am sure was obvious to you by my fashion pics. I am came to Minnesota after living since birth in a breeding operation, so family life was new to me. I arrived in the family way, if you know what I mean, but I have raised my puppy and am ready to find my forever family. My foster family was surprised that I loved people immediately, as so many breeding dogs prefer dogs over people. I do love other small dogs but I really love my humans. I could snuggle with you all day and night if you would let me and prefer to have you around most of the time. I do like to sleep with my humans or in the same room next to them to make up for those years I spent caged with the breeder. I am kennel trained but prefer to be left in a toddler yard type gate system with my blankets and bed while my family is gone or loose In the home because my foster mama says I am not at all destructive. I live with other dogs and cats right now and I would really prefer to not have big dogs or very young humans as both scare me. I do live with two big dogs and two small dogs, so I can be around big dogs, but I would really prefer for them to not actually live with me. Little kids would also scare me, but I love bigger kids and adults.
I still have accidents on occasion, but do incredibly well on a schedule and sleep very well through the night without any issues. I do think that with some focus I could stop all potty accidents but I am so new to all of this. They try to connect this long rope thing to me that they call a leash and it is not my favorite as they never used that with me at the breeder. I have not had a ton of time to practice as I was focused on raising my baby and recovering and learning how to be a dog. My foster family says with time I will likely become a pro on leash but as is common with breeder dogs, I really do need a fenced yard to keep me feeling safe. I also would love to be in home that was not gone many hours as I don’t think I can hold it during the day many hours, but thankfully overnight I am a champ. So a human not gone all day would be ideal. If the human is gone on a regular basis, a small dog friend would be ideal to make me feel less anxious. I do bark at sudden sounds and my bark is surprisingly loud. I don’t just bark randomly, but shared walls could be an issue because sometimes a girl just wants to roar!!
