Name: Yankee

Hi, I’m Yankee! I’ve been learning A LOT about being a house dog, and it’s a pretty good life. Head scratches and belly rubs are what being a dog is all about! I am an all-star cuddler and will force my head in your lap if you aren’t petting me. Just try and say “no” to my cute face. I didn’t have many manners when I first got to the rescue, but my foster mom and foster fur brother helped show me the right way to behave. I still have a lot of puppy energy, so I like to run around the backyard at top speed and explore everything. I do a little “prance” when I run, and my foster mom says it’s cute. My favorite activities are chewing on sticks and chasing my foster fur brother. We play rough together and have fun, but my foster mom says that not all dogs will appreciate my “enthusiasm”. If I have a doggy sibling in my new home, they should have a similar playstyle so we can have lots of fun together. I don’t want to brag, but I am potty and kennel trained. My foster mom also says that I am a very smart boy and seems impressed when I do tricks. I really like getting treats, so I am on my best behavior when they are involved. I have gotten better at walking on a leash and no longer lunge at every squirrel I see. Let me tell you, I am OBSESSED with squirrels, so it takes a lot of willpower not to chase them, but my foster mom gives me treats when I stay by her, so it’s worth it.

I love playing games and puzzle toys, which gives my brain a nice workout, so I don’t get bored. Days get boring when the humans won’t play with me (they just sit and stare at these glowing boxes, but they call it “work”) but most of the time I am content to nap in my bed. Sometimes I get a spark of energy so my foster mom will give me a toy or let me run around outside for a bit. I really like attention and don’t like being away from people, so I hope my new family stays home with me all day. If you are looking for a happy little shadow, then here I am!
