Name: Virgil
From the Foster: Hi ya'll, I'm Virgil, nickname Virggy. I'm told I'm a southern boy from Kentucky. I felt a bit neglected in my old life, and sometimes that spills over into my present, but I'm learning to trust that my humans will give me what I need when I need it! I don't remember being taught how to "dog," but my fosters taught me to play with soft balls and toys (soft because I have no teeth)! I have really enjoyed having other doggos in my foster home. I do great with big dogs, little dogs, old dogs and pups! While I enjoy co-existing, I don't always play, but it's nice to have company. My favorite company is my humans. I like little kids, big kids and old kids (adults)! I like to snuggle, especially at night, and right now I sleep in my human's bed. I have free roam of the house, and sometimes I do decide to go to the couch for the night when I need my own space.
Even though I'm an adult, and can use pads in the house, I've had a bit of trouble with potty training... mostly when I use it as a way to tell my humans when I'm not happy, like when they don't give me food when I want it... which.. well... leads me to my next thing. Food. I love it. I want it all the time, though the vet has said I should probably lose a little weight. Food is my love language, so my humans make it fun! I use a snuffle mat or puzzles for meal times. It helps me work my brain and I get a tasty treat! I like it when I'm given small bits through the day. It's like a compromise between my humans and me. I do have some anxiety, so I take some medication for it and put calming powder on my food. My humans also have been giving me a licki-mat with frozen soft dog food or peanut butter on it. It's my favorite evening snack, and also helps me self-soothe by licking. I like to speak my mind, so shared walls would not be a good fit for me. I love going on walks, playing in my backyard (especially in the sun) and chasing squirrels or rabbits!
