Shepherd (short coat) : : Male : : Adult : : Large
Name: Abu
From the Foster: Since I have had Abu, he has been a good boy. He is very energetic and playful and could play all day. He couldn’t understand why I had to work from home and couldn’t just spend the whole day playing with him instead! He loves going for walks, and we are working on his leash reactivity. He seems ok when running into other dogs on walks, but wants to chase all the squirrels he sees. He is house training and crate trained. He will just remind you for a bit that he is in the crate when you leave him there, but then does settle down and chill out. He loves chasing after balls, but likes to bring them back and play keep away rather than drop it to play again. We are working on that. Besides chasing tennis balls, he likes to use them as chew toys and rip the coating off of them, so they should be taken away once done throwing them. He loves to chew all his toys, but leaves shoes and human things alone. He is a fairly aggressive chewer and doesn’t understand why he can’t just eat everything he chews. He will try to play with his bed, but does understand the word no and stops when told to. Just make sure to keep your toilet lid closed or he will use it as his second water bowl. Overall, he is a good boy that would fit well with an active household that likes to go for walks, runs, hikes, and has time to play with him. He still has some pup in him, but can also settle in next to you on the couch and chill once he is done playing. Abu knows that the polite thing to do when getting a treat is to sit, and will sit often if he thinks you have a treat for him.
