American Bulldog / Bulldog / Mixed (short coat) : : Female : : Baby
Name: Ailbhe
From the Foster: Hi, I'm Ailbhe! I'm a goofy, sweet, playful puppy. I love all dogs and all people, I show it with lots of snuggles, kisses and butt wiggles!
I was born with a cleft palate and lip but I'm thriving! I eat regular kibble and drink from a normal water bowl. I can't have soft food and my foster Mom checks my palate and helps me clear it occasionally. I've done so well that I'm now ready for my forever home!
I can be a little nervous of new situations if I'm a confident girl and love to explore new things. I'm working hard on my crate training and I settle down and relax pretty easily. I'm potty training and if I'm let out on a good schedule I don't have many accidents but you can expect some while I continue to learn. I also had some puppy vaginitis from my vulva being tucked up, I will be going home with a spay contract in the hopes as I grow my vulva continues to turn outward like normal. This means I won't be spayed until I'm a bit older but before I go into heat. As a result of this I sometimes squat a bit more to pee but it otherwise doesnt bother me!
I love to play tug and chew so my new home must have lots of toys for me! I've mastered going up the stairs, emphasis on up, I'm still working on going down a flight so my foster mom has to carry me if it's a larger flight of stairs. I can go down the 3 to go outside all on my own! I will do well in any home as long as your willing to snuggle and play but because I was an orphan I need either a doggy friend to help me along the way or a family with a really good socialization and training plan to keep me on track. If you'd like to meet me fill out an application and I'll show my foster Mom!
**When an application is submitted additional information will be sent to the applicant about her palate defect, as well as her adoption fee.
Upon examination of the animal, a Secondhand Hounds veterinarian determined this pup has a recessed vulva. A recessed vulva may or may not be a health consideration for a female dog as they grow. It's possible that if spayed early (as typically done in rescue) the dog may have concerns for future persistent UTI's, a potential to form bladder stones, or perivulvar skin infections. In the case of these possible clinical concerns, it is generally advised to delay the dog's spay to allow for further development. Ailbhe will need to be adopted with a "Delayed Spay contract" where the listed adoption fee is required, PLUS an additional $200 refundable deposit. This deposit is refundable upon successful completion of the spay surgery. The spay surgery will be done between 6-9 months of age, and before the first heat cycle.** More about AILBHE *NEONATE GRAD* D210476Good with Dogs, Good with Adults Other Pictures of AILBHE *NEONATE GRAD* D210476 (click to see larger version):
