From the Foster:
Daffodil (aka Dilly) is the sweetest catahoula. Not only is she beautiful, but she’s also got the personality to back it up. She is a fun loving girl with lots of energy, but she also knows how to relax when the time comes. She knows a lot of basic commands, and is almost fully house trained. Not only that, but she’s always looking to her owner for the right thing to do. She doesn’t chase people or other animals, and she’s not a barker.
If she doesn’t have an outlet for her energy, she may act up a bit, but the good news is that she LOVES fetch with a frisbee or a tennis ball and that’s the perfect way to help her burn off all the excitement. While she shows interest in other humans and little fluffy animals, she has proven not to be a flight risk and always looks back to her owner before going too far. She comes when she’s called for the most part, even if she is sniffing something she’s super interested in. Very impressive for such a little one!
Dilly is still learning that her play biting hurts sometimes, and she can’t jump up. She means well, but she gets very excited and sometimes forgets that she’s gotten bigger and stronger since she was just a little pup. With that said, she’s a very quick learner and with a bit more training, there’s no doubt that she’ll have those skills down.
She needs a house where she’ll get plenty of exercise. A big yard and fence is a plus, but with her tendency to stick around her owner, I wouldn’t call it a must. She does well with other dogs once she warms up, but her tendency is to cower by her owner when she’s getting to know a new fellow canine. Especially if that dog is bigger and more assertive than her. She will do well with kids, but it’s important to keep in mind that right now she doesn’t know her own strength. It will take some time for her to learn.
