From the Foster: Valentine is a total snuggle bug, perfect for the cold winter months ahead. He loves to be right next to you on the couch - and despite his size he is a surprisingly gentle cuddler. His favorite place to sleep is with his head in your lap. Although, Valentine does sometimes sneak some adorable underbite kisses and has a tendency to drool in his sleep - so expect a little extra gooiness to your cuddle sessions. He is currently sleeping through the night in his crate, but we think he'd love to sleep under the covers with you too!
This sweet boy is still a curious puppy - so expect a totally goofy attitude and the most pitiful eyes you've ever seen. Valentine still has a lot to learn about the world and would really benefit from someone willing to work on socializing him, as currently he can be wary of new guest but calms quickly once pets and treats are given. He is fully house trained - which is a fantastic perk, and he's very food motivated and tries his hardest to be a good listener when there's treats involved. He also has a very soft mouth, and he is very gentle when taking treats. It's very clear that Valentine really just wants to be a good boy!
We think Valentine would be best with another mellow dog, or would love being your one and only. He gets along fine with his foster sister, but we believe he would really benefit from the extra attention of being an only dog. We thought Valentine had some resource guarding issues when we first met him, but it turns out he's just incredibly awkward when it comes to playing with toys - so we're currently working on the concept of fetch (which is hilarious watching him grab toys with his smushed snout)!
Valentine would be a great dog for someone confident who has the time, patience, and experience to train a large dog to help him work on building confidence with new people and with being a dog in general. He's a very fast learner, though still a rather dopey dog, and takes redirection very well. Valentine really has the potential to become an all around fantastic dog!
