Name: Abby
From the Foster: Abby is a beautiful girl, with chocolate brown, soulful eyes that beg you to understand and love her. She has had some disappointments in life -- twice owners have had to give her up. So it's understandable that she is wary.
She is best with adult humans -- cuddling up tight (she's what my husband calls a close talker), sighing loudly when she gives in to rest. Sometimes if you get too close when she's not ready, or pet her in a way she doesn't prefer, she will give a low growl asking you to give her space. We do, and she is fine. I am not sure little kiddos would read the cues, so they might not be a good fit.
As for dogs? Well, she seems to want to be with them, but has trust issues there as well (seems in her past life she had a dog that didn't play nice). She might be best as an only dog, but then again, with the right human and the right dog (and slow intros) it could work. She gets along okay with my puppy, except when my puppy is, well, a puppy. Outside she wants to play with her, but inside the house she is very insecure and gives lots of warning growls. She would not do well with an alpha dog!
Abby wants to play, and girlfriend has a vertical leap like you would not believe! . She adores tennis balls, and can often be found picking one up and dropping it. She will even bring them to our resident dog, in the hopes of playing, but once they start she gets nervous. I feel so bad for her!
She will use her crate, but is reluctant to get in it. This will get easier with time. As for house training, she only seems to have accidents in times of great stress. She is great about going outside! She is fantastic in the car, and sleeps the whole night through in a dog bed in our room.
Abby will make someone a wonderful pet. She needs some love and patience and training to understand that people and dogs can be trusted! More about Abby D180593Good with Dogs, Good with Adults Other Pictures of Abby D180593 (click to see larger version):
