From the Foster:
Do you like playing ball, lots of snuggling, and the Chihuahua attitude? If so, I’ve got a perfect dog for you!
Rabbit seems to have two modes: gleefully chasing and retrieving a tennis ball that’s as big as his head, or curling into a tight little sweet bundle right in the crook of someone’s legs. (Don’t tell him I called him sweet, his ego might get bruised).
He’ll play or snuggle with all ages. He’ll gladly have his ball thrown by any of the three kids he’s currently hanging out with (10, 8, 4), and if one of the big kids is curled up with a book, he’s IN for an under the blanket nap. They do make sure not to grab at him too quickly or roughly - given the Chi ‘tude.
And he lovvveeess his adults. Will greet us at the door with those big ears and little tail wagging.
The only one in the house who has had a bit of a rough go is the resident dog. Rabbit does not want to share his ball, and resident dog realllly wants to play - resulting in more than a few fits, all of which end quickly and without too much drama. He has zero issues with food or sharing cuddles - it’s just play time. So, Rabbit would do best in a home where he can be solo or be with a chill dog who doesn’t want to play.
He does great on a leash. He’ll settle down in his crate (although he’ll give you quite the look of dismay). And he vastly - VASTLY - prefers to sleep in your bed (in his foster house, he makes the rounds checking out each bed every night - including the kids’ - to decide who has the most comfortable covers to crawl under).
The biggest note is that whoever gets the joy of adopting this dude must appreciate the Chihuahua attitude. They are sassy, quick, and can be nippy. Rabbit’s gentle and well behaved, but will give a little snap if he’s startled. He’s not particularly vocal, but will voice his insistence on occasion. He truly adores kids, and would love to be around some - as long as they don’t get too rough with him.
All in all, he’s a gem, and now he’s ready for someone to be his permanent snuggle buddy and ball thrower!
