From the Foster:

Honeydew came into rescue in very bad condition. She was a local stray, female, not spayed with a life threatening Infection in her uterus. If she did not have surgery the day that she did, she may not have made it.

That incident was five weeks ago. Since then, Honeydew, has healed nicely and has fully recovered from surgery. She has shown much resilience in her new circumstances. Has accepted her new home and relishes the love and hugs, warmth and security that she acknowledges with kisses and plenty of tail wags.

She came to rescue knowing basic commands...sit, stay, come, and she even gives paw shakes.
She is completely house trained and gets vocal when she needs to go out. I don't kennel her but she is secured when I have to run errands. At night she sleeps in our bedroom on her big bed. She doesn't move once everyone is settled.

Honeydew is getting along with the smaller pups that I foster, but she really needs a larger housemate that has a like play style. Her play style is definitely boxer...uses her front legs...and is very vocal. She weighs 50 pounds and I think a male would work better for her.

Definitely a home with older kids, a fenced yard and plenty of activity. She is not hyper and she does love her naps, but she loves to investigate, is nosy and likes to be outside.

Honeydew does have one more surgery to remove a mammary tumor which is scheduled for  Wednesday, March 2nd . This is not unusual for an over bred female. this surgery is not very invasive, so recovery time should only be, possibly, 10 days.

Cats are unknown. Honeydew will make an awesome addition to the right family. Please fill out an application if you are interested in meeting her.
