American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (short coat) : : Female : : Adult : : Medium Learn more about the American Pit Bull Terrier.
Name: Ivie Ivie's training is coming along fairly well, she knows sit, stay, no, off, leave it, take it nice, and kennel. Ivie is the perfect mix between being playful and lazy. She is always up for playing tug and chasing balls, but also more than willing to snuggle (which comes in handy when I work night shifts- she has no problem sleeping the day away with me)! We don’t have a fenced in yard, so we bring her for walks everyday- which she loves! On my days off she sometimes get restless in the morning knowing that her walk is coming, but after she gets her walk she is perfectly content the rest of the day. Like I mentioned before, Ivie's only downside is that she doesn't get along with most other pups. She has lived with a male dog before and done fine, but it would take a very particular type of male friend and would take time and slow introductions to make it work out long term. If we are out on a walk and come across another dog she does not seem aggressive at all, it's more like she is really excited and wants to play! We have been walking her with a gentle leader for the past few months so that has really helped to redirect her from other dogs, and also makes her walk like such a princess. The only time she barks is if the mailman comes to the door or if she sees another dog walk past the window, which we have been working on (she also sometimes barks in her sleep, which is SO cute!) Ivie is incredibly sweet and affectionate with people. She is a very tolerant and easy going girl who loves kids and adults alike. We are sure that whoever meets Ivie will fall in love! If you're interested in meeting Ivie please submit an application!
All dogs are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities.
If you live in MN, WI, IA, SD, ND, or IL and would like to meet/adopt this animal or anyone else, then please fill out an adoption application at http://secondhandhounds.org/ Note - We change an animal's listing to say "PENDING ADOPTION" when they already had a meet and greet with a family who plans to adopt that animal. We put "NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS" on a listing when an animal has multiple applications in and the foster has asked to stop accepting any more while they review the applications they've already received.
