American Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (medium coat) : : Male : : Young : : Large Learn more about the American Pit Bull Terrier.
Name: Brussels Brussels is a great pittie! Like most pitbulls he's big on cuddles and kisses. He loves lounging on the couch and snuggling under blankets. Since, fostering Brussels "Sprouts" (as we call him at our house), his dog reactiveness has calmed down from lunging and barking, to a sitting whimpering whine. He gets along great with our resident Shiba Inu, and plays according to his size. Brussels is very picky over who his dog friends are and he needs calm, proper introductions. We like to say he's very human in his friend approach, sometimes he likes other dogs right away and sometimes it takes warming up, other times he just won't like them--period. Brussels does well with everyone! He tolerates toddler and children, and is super patient with them. Everyone that comes into our home falls in love with his desire for human interaction. Our kids adore him and play chase and tug-of-war with him often. He prefers to sleep in our bedroom, but often will snuggle up on the bed with one of the kids. Our kids call him a "free-range" dog because he does well all day in the house with no real need for supervision. He is crate trained but it really isn't necessary.
Another bonus is that our yard is always clean with no worries of stepping on poo, or yellowed grass. Brussels is amazing at knowing where to go, he has even taught our dog to do the same.
Brussels knows all the basic commands and a few other fun extras including "shut the door." He does well on walks with a gentle leader collar, but does well playing in a fenced yard too. He is very good at adapting to his owners and environment. He is also a caring and in-tuned dog. He knows when you're having a rough day and can sense when you're stressed out. He'll put his head in your hands and look up at you with his sweet hazel eyes. You can't be mad or stressed after that!
All dogs are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities.
If you live in MN, WI, IA, SD, ND, or IL and would like to meet/adopt this animal or anyone else, then please fill out an adoption application at
http://secondhandhounds.org/ Note - We change an animal's listing to say "PENDING ADOPTION" when they already had a meet and greet with a family who plans to adopt that animal. We put "NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS" on a listing when an animal has multiple applications in and the foster has asked to stop accepting any more while they review the applications they've already received. Thanks for your interest in Secondhand Hounds!!
