From Salena:
I'm a sweet Southern girl who made the journey to MN to make a better life for me and my sweet kittens. My babies are all grown and have moved on to their furrever homes. Now I've been focusing on self-care (working on my diet, doing yoga, napping) and am ready to make a new life for myself! A few things about me:
  • I'm calm and easy. I'd love a quiet home with a chance to get all the cuddles and scratches.
  • I'm polite and always use my litter box - but I like it clean. I am a cat afterall.
  • Older, gentle kids are wonderful. I live with two teenagers now who spoil me. They don't try to carry me around and don't get too rough with me - I like that!
  • I live with two cats and a dog right now. I don't mind them, but I would love a home where I was the only pet or with others who are gentle. My foster-dog brother likes to chase me sometimes (for fun) but that's not really my style. One of my foster-cat brothers tries to rough-house and eat all of my food - not cool!
  • I keep to a clean diet and eat special food. It's not a big deal. My foster-mom gets it from the vet and it keeps me in tip top shape. I feel really great when I eat well.
  • I'm a quiet lady and I don't talk much, but when things are quiet around the house, I visit my foster-mom and give her ankle-hugs. She picks me up for a quick cuddle and maybe a little treat. Then I'm off for another nap and some meditation.
From Foster:
Salena is a gem. She loves to be near-by the action and has flourished since coming to SHH. She had a rough start in KY with her kittens, and I'm so glad she joined us. She's healthy and inquisitive, but also calm and sweet. She would make a great addition to a home that can give her lots of love.

From the vet team:
Hello! Throughout my veterinarian care at Secondhand Hounds, a few things were discovered. I have a grade 2 heart murmur and a cardiologist noted that there are no structural abnormalities and a normal heart function. Since the murmur is physiologic, it hopefully will not cause me any problems in the future. It is recommended that I have an annual blood test (proBNP) and to follow up with a cardiologist if the level ever elevates beyond a normal range.  I also have high albumin levels that are controlled by a prescription diet (HP) and I should stay on this long term. These levels should be monitored by my future veterinarian.
