From the Foster:

Rocky is, without a doubt, the sweetest guy you will ever meet! We don't know much about his life before he ended up in a shelter but if his behavior is any indication, it was a frightening time indeed. This poor guy was terrified & not doing well in the kennels. The volunteers who saw him shutting down knew he needed to experience a real home & quickly, so Secondhand Hounds helped him escape that 'ruff' life at the first opportunity.

Just one week after traveling to MN & joining his foster home, he was already almost completely potty trained. He responds super very to consistency, knows just where his spot on the couch is & where he should sit to await his meals. He is slowly starting to understand that even loud clanging noises are nothing to worry about (usually just some silly cat making mischief anyway). With more time in a loving home, he will really come out of his shell & start to thrive.

This handsome fellow is learning to trust humans & is making great strides as his confidence builds. With a friendly, happy dog (or a few) nearby, he really loosens up & starts to have a good time. Even though he is super shy, once he knows you are safe & a source for affection, he will be your new bestie. Once he's made a friend if you, he will remind you to keep petting him by gently pawing in your general direction.

Rocky has excellent kennel manners, is not a barker, & though he's quite concerned about the mail carriers, he watches them diligently but silently. He is looking for someone (or a family) who understands that it will take patience & some trust building before he is ready to do things like be adventurous. Whoever his lucky adopters will be, they will get back every bit of love they put into this special pup.

Are you ready to meet your new best friend?

All dogs are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities.

I f you would like to meet/adopt this animal or anyone else, then please fill out an adoption application at http://secondhandhounds.org/adoption-information/ and the foster(s) will be in touch!  Keep in mind that there may be multiple applicants applying for the same animal(s).  You only need to complete 1 application for multiple animals that you're interested in.

Note   - We change an animal's listing to say "PENDING ADOPTION" when they already had a meet and greet with a family who plans to adopt that animal.  We put "NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS" on a listing when an animal has multiple applications in and the foster has asked to stop accepting any more while they review the applications they've already received.

If you would like to be a foster for Secondhand Hounds, then please fill out a foster application,   http://secondhandhounds.org/fostervolunteer-information/fostering-101/   You can choose the type of animal you'd like to foster and we will supply everything you need (food, collar, bowls, crate, etc.) while the animal is in your care.

Thanks for your interest in Secondhand Hounds!
