**Secondhand Hounds strongly discourages declawing cats. For more information on why SHH does not support this practice, please visit the following: http://www.humanesociety.org/animals/cats/tips/declawing.html http://www.peta.org/living/companion-animals/8-reasons-never-declaw-cats/
From the Foster: Jenkins (Jenks, as we call him) is sweet, loving boy with a great personality. He LOVES to be around people and is happy curling up on the floor, on a nice soft blanket, or just passing out in your lap, whichever you prefer. He's got a great rumbly purr, which he shows off just about every time he gets a little scratch or pet from his human friends. He's playful and active, but mellows out at a moments notice and can snooze for hours on end. He even seems to enjoy the occasional belly rub and likes to be rubbed between his paw pads! He's also incredibly easy to handle - no trouble at all trimming his nails or checking his ears. He does get a *little* excited about getting petted from time to time and sometimes gives little 'love bites' when that happens - we've been working on his manners here, but he probably needs a home with a family that understands these aren't actual 'bites' and that can continue working with him on this. He's just fine with our resident dog and 2 cats, though he'd be best with siblings that are playful and confident. Our older cats just don't appreciate Jenks' desire to run and chase, and they're just a little too shy to stand up for themselves. He'd also be fine as an only pet, as he has no trouble entertaining himself with a toy, and is happy as a clam if he has a human to pet him when he's feeling the need!
All cats are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities. If you live in MN, WI, IA, SD, ND, or IL and would like to meet/adopt this animal or anyone else, then please fill out an adoption application at http://secondhandhounds.org/adoption-information/ and the foster(s) will be in touch! Keep in mind that there may be multiple applicants applying for the same animal(s). You only need to complete 1 application for multiple animals that you're interested in. Note - We change an animal's listing to say "PENDING ADOPTION" when they already had a meet and greet with a family who plans to adopt that animal. We put "NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS" on a listing when an animal has multiple applications in and the foster has asked to stop accepting any more while they review the applications they've already received.
