From the Foster:
I'm not sure what Alix's background is, but she acts very similar to other puppy mill fosters we have had in the past. She is very comfortable being in her kennel and by herself, but is very hesitant about people. She accepts pets very nicely when picked up and in her kennel, but will run when you go to pick her up. She gets excited when she sees me, but is most comfortable watching me from afar. She is completely neutral to our other dogs and cats.
We have one foster that wants to hump her and she has been very tolerant. Outside is pretty foreign to Alix and it's pretty apparent that she has not been potty trained. She goes outside nicely with the other dogs, but hasn't quite figured out that that's where she's supposed to go to the bathroom. We tried potty pads and a litter box to see if she recognized those instead, but she isn't conditioned to those either. A collar and leash are completely foreign to her as well. I imagine Alix would be a flight risk and probably shouldn't be placed with young kids who want to pet her/pick her up/chase her. I think once she trusts someone she will probably become a velcro dog, but it may take her a while to learn that people won't hurt her. I think Alix is super adorable and I think she will be perfect once she learns how to be a dog, but she'll need someone patient enough to give her the time to do that.
Added plus: she sleeps with her tongue out and snores.
All dogs are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities.
