From the Foster:

I’ve been fostering Paisley for a little while now and she is a very sweet and gentle pup, a total lover.  She is potty-trained and has not had a single accident, she also ‘asks’ to go outside by panting and pacing back and forth.  She is not a fan of being crated but has done fine having free reign of a spare bedroom.    As she’s deaf, sometimes she needs to be woken up.  If you tickle her feet, she wakes very sweetly and will nuzzle you for a few pets and a cuddle.  She doing great with light exercise; we take short walk in the morning and longer one in the evening. The couple of days where it was too rainy for a longer walk she would do this funny happy wiggle-but dance around the house for a few minutes.  If  she has pent up energy in the backyard, she’ll run around and try to get you or another dog to chase her.  Most of the time she seems content to walk around yard and sniff the plants.

While she does get along with other dogs, she does not like to share her food or the space near her food, so I’ve been feeding her separately in a spare bedroom.  When she first came home she was territorial of that space with one of my resident dogs (although she didn’t seem to mind my other resident dog at all).   After a few initial arguments, Paisley is getting on fine with both my resident pups.  Please note that Paisley needs to either be in a single dog home or with an owner that will be willing work with her to slowly introduce her to other dogs and understands how to deescalate a situation.

We’ve been working on manners a bit and she seems to be catching on really well.  She’s learning to ‘come’ by hand signals, how to nicely ask to be petted (she would paw you at when she first came but now she just rubs her muzzle on your leg).  She is still working on walking nicely on leash, she doesn’t pull to much but is very interested in people and can be reactive (mainly barking) to other dogs.   She does bark at strangers walking by the house/ yard and at reflections in windows.  The Great Pyrenees breed is known for being strong willed, gentle, friendly, and protective and Paisley seems to fit that description so far.  Research on the breed is recommended for anyone interested in this sweet and friendly pup.

All dogs are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities.
