From the Foster:

Shihon is impossible not to adore! She’s the perfect blend of energetic and couch potato, and would love an active family that will go for a good long walk, and then flop down with her to chill out at the end of the day. She also can’t get enough of her toys.  With this pretty girl in your house there is no shortage of snuffly kisses, snuggles, and laughter. She runs “hot laps” around the yard like a pro, and loves to toss her own toys up in the air for herself.

While she may look a bit tough, Shihon is still timid in new situations. She isn’t totally confident when confronted with “scary” things, like a noisy car passing during a walk. In spite of this she still likes to act like she’s on guard duty and lets us know every time the neighbor’s dogs are out in the yard next door!

She’s extremely affectionate with people and doesn’t hesitate to jump right up next to guests when they come over. Regardless of whether or not they’re a stranger, they’ll get the same kisses she gives everyone else! Sharing the bed with you is one of her most favorite things in the world, and she has somehow mastered the art of canine ‘spooning.’

We have not had her around kids except for any we pass on walks. She seems fine with them but would probably be happiest in a house with adults, or a family with older children that will respect her space if she gets a little stressed.

Shihon has two foster brothers (both boxers) and she does fine with both of them. She doesn’t have much in the way of doggy manners yet, but with slow structured introductions she is learning and has done well with both the large and small dogs she’s met, although she gets very rambunctious and does best with tolerant dogs who will put up with her shenanigans. And she’s always up for a good game of chase! She can have a bit of a bossy streak, with some resource guarding over space, so she is probably not the right fit for a first time dog owner. If there is another dog in the household, she would get along best with a non-dominant dog. We have not had her around cats.

Shihon is still very puppyish with her energy but is super smart, eager to please, and picking up quickly on manners. With good (sturdy!) toys to redirect her to, she’s easily figuring out what is ok to chew on and what isn’t ok to chew on. She’s also doing great learning to keep four paws on the floor and not jump up on people-even when she’s SO excited to see you she’ll wiggle in circles! She’s just a good girl who is patiently waiting for a family she can love with her whole big heart. She crates perfectly, and has been great with potty training. She would do best with a fenced in yard where she can feel secure during potty breaks and when stretching her legs a bit. This girl is loving, loyal, and just about everything you could want in a four legged best friend!
