From the Foster:

Newman is one of the reasons I love the Fighter Fund at Secondhand Hounds!  Newman came into rescue severely neglected and malnourished.  He barely looked like a dog under his matted skin and bones.  But despite his difficult start, the light in Newman’s eyes couldn’t be diminished.  He’s fought and come back and while Newman does have some medical consequences that he’ll carry for the rest of his life, he’s a loving, vibrant side-kick with a joie-de-vivre that deserves all the love and attention of a forever home.
A few details about Newman:
Fully house trained on a schedule - he does not signal
Crate trained, but doesn't need one - he is not destructive if left out
Temperament - Newman's kind of a neurotic little dude and when he gets excited, he likes to talk it through :-)  Once he settles, then he quiets, but shared walls and small children aren't recommended
Financially stable home that can provide for his unpredictable medical expenses (auto-immune and bone density issues are known)
Loves other dogs, but could do well as an only dog as well.
Plenty of energy for walks and playing, but also loves to cuddle on the couch and stare lovingly into your eyes.  He truly just wants to be loved.

Its recommended that you allow for multiple meets with Newman.  You see, Newman's afraid of new people.  Once you get to know him, you'll totally forget about it, but it takes a little time for him to warm up to new people and in the mean time, he'll hide behind someone he trusts or bark at you.  But once you gain his trust, he'll be like your shadow :-)
