Labrador Retriever / Mixed (short coat) : : Male : : Young : : Medium Learn more about the Labrador Retriever.
Name: Berner On the outside, Berner is a bit scarred, but his kind and loving soul is prominently displayed in his eye and his manner. His velvet jet black coat is highlighted by a white star on his chest. He recently had one of his back legs removed, but please don't let that bother you. It really doesn't bother him at all! He also only has one eye, but he can see everything he needs to, including a tennis ball when playing fetch. While he's still young and loves his playtime, he also is very good at curling up in the dog bed and relaxing. He is not your typical 9 month old lab. This is the dog that you can take places, no anxiety, loves his people, dogs, cats, kids. Berner is very obedient for his short 9 months of life. He sits on command, and understands direction. I tell him to go lay in the bed and rest, and he actually does it. He isn't overly needy, while he follows me around the house still he does not beg for attention. He wants to please his people and would love to learn more. He would love a home where there is a dog sibling, or nearby dog friends. He likes to play, but will also have fun on his own, tossing his toys in the air and chasing them. I would not consider this dog any different on the inside than a dog with 2 eyes, or with 4 legs or a perfect coat. He does not seem to have any different needs than another dog. He has no issues with stairs, jumping on furniture or in and out of cars. He has the typical will and curiosity of a puppy. I look at him and I feel so thankful for the great life he has, and that he will find his perfect forever family! This guy is full of love and life and he so deserves to have a great one.
All dogs are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities.
If you live in MN, WI, IA, SD, ND, or IL and would like to meet/adopt this animal or anyone else, then please fill out an adoption application at
http://secondhandhounds.org/ Note - We change an animal's listing to say "PENDING ADOPTION" when they already had a meet and greet with a family who plans to adopt that animal. We put "NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS" on a listing when an animal has multiple applications in and the foster has asked to stop accepting any more while they review the applications they've already received.
