From the Foster:

Fancy is REALLY warming up!  She is still quite shy when meeting new people and especially new dogs, but in our home, she makes herself comfortable in all of the usual "dog" places: kennel, dog beds, rug, floor.  Her confidence has grown exponentially, and although she's still unsure in new environments and situations, she relaxes more quickly than before and has learned to take her cues from our resident dog.  She's eating well now, and has been taking all of her meds (wrapped in cream cheese) with gusto.

She's slowly mastering the concept of "sit", an important component to developing good dog manners.  We begin basic obedience training this coming week with the Twin Cities Obedience Training Club, and although I'm sure she'll be quite slow to warm up to that new environment, it will be an excellent experience for this girl.

Most importantly, she's learning how to ENJOY being a family dog!  She fetches in the yard, chases the rabbits and squirrels, rolls and flops around on her back, tosses and squeaks the fuzzy toys, gnaws on the Nylabones and takes leisurely naps in the sun.  She still loves her walks and is now quicker to come to the door when the leashes come out.  We've taken some car rides, which she doesn't seem to mind, and even visited a Chuck & Don's (during quiet hours so she wouldn't get overwhelmed).  She's coming to understand that Home Life is a Good Life for a dog!

She's so very loving, gentle and sweet-natured.  She's going to make an incredible companion for just about any family!

All dogs are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities.

If you live in MN, WI, IA, SD, ND, or IL and would like to meet/adopt this animal or anyone else, then please fill out an adoption application at   http://secondhandhounds.org/adoption-information/  and the foster(s) will be in touch!  Keep in mind that there may be multiple applicants applying for the same animal(s).   You only need to complete 1 application for multiple animals that you're interested in.

Note  - We change an animal's listing to say "PENDING ADOPTION" when they already had a meet and greet with a family who plans to adopt   that animal.  We put "NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS" on a listing when an animal has multiple applications in and the foster has asked to stop accepting any more while they review the applications they've already received.

Thanks for your interest in Secondhand Hounds!!
