From the Foster: Spice is THE best dog in the world. She is SUPER gentle and loves everyone.
As soon as you get close and pet her, she immediately flops over for a
belly rub!
She'd barked once or twice at my small Terrier, Frank but never in an
aggrressive way and sometimes even without eye contact.. It was more like
her saying" Hey, I don't know you, but I like this place so don't get too
close right now!"  This would also happen when she was getting her tummy
rubbed and Frank would come by for some attention. As she got more
comfortable, this behavior has stopped and now she actually gives him a
small kiss instead!  Sweetest thing ever!   She is very happy to be here
and absolutely loves attention. If she was ignored for too long, a nudge
with her nose on your hand was a reminder that she wants more. She began to
love her crate as it was where she felt most comfortable initially. She was
crated for 8-9 hours consistently while I was at work with no issues. She
would actually put herself to bed in her crate when we watched TV and it
was getting late. I left the crate door open and as the days went by, she
was allowed to have more and more freedom , eventually having the entire
house to herself.  Now, she has the run of the house while I'm at work with
no accidents.  She loves car rides and going to  visit family members.
She is food motivated and loves meal time.   She reliably knows sit, shake
and down.  She's an older gal so an active home probably isn't suited for
her. I think she would be fine with another quiet dog but I believe she
would prefer to be an only dog. She wants to be by her people whenever
possible and loves her bed in the living room where we spend most of our
time. She's very quiet and only barks a couple of times with excitement
when I get home. Oddly, She doesnt feel comfortable on furniture and
prefers it when you get on the floor to cuddle with her.  I see the perfect
home being a quiet place,  low key family or maybe a retired person or
couple that can spend time with her and make her part of the family. She is
the sweetest girl and deserves the best.   I was recently treated for heartworms, and I am feeling much better now! Please let SHH know if you have any questions!

All dogs are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities.
