From the Foster:

Newman is by definition a goofy sweetheart. He just wants to be near you and will let you know with a little nudge to your hand that he'd like to be petted please :) It's really hard to say no to that face!!  He is also content to  chill out and gnaw on his soft toys. At night, he sleeps on his dog bed on the floor of our bedroom. Other than the occasional doggy snore, we don't hear a peep from him until the morning. Newman is good on a leash and does not pull when we walk him around the neighborhood.

Newman and our resident dog get along great. They wrestle a bit and enjoy sniffing around the backyard together.  He definitely still has puppy playfulness!  Newman takes doggie ibprofen twice daily for achy joints but he is otherwise healthy.   Newman is completely house-broken and we let him have free reign of the house when we're at work. He has not had any accidents inside. He did meet a cat during a visit to the vet--he was curious but not overly so.

Overall, Newman is a wonderfully awesome dog and would make the perfect addition to any home looking for a loyal companion who just wants to be loved!

All dogs are in individual foster homes throughout the Twin Cities.

Note  - We change an animal's listing to say "PENDING ADOPTION" when they already had a meet and greet with a family who plans to adopt   that animal.  We put "NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS" on a listing when an animal has multiple applications in and the foster has asked to stop accepting any more while they review the applications they've already received.

Thanks for your interest in Secondhand Hounds!!

Newman is a very loving dog. He loves a nice dog bed to lay on and lots of soft toys to chew up. Newman understands basic commands and tries to obey them. He suffers from some arthritis in his back left knee and a torn acl in his back right, so sitting and laying down are not always easy for him to do. I think he may do best with a house that has carpet verses hard wood or laminate. We have mostly hard wood and he sometimes has problems keeping his back legs underneath him.

Newman gets along great with our 2 resident dogs. He likes to go to the dog park to meet new friends although he has not played much while there or at the house. He is still working on getting his strength up from coming to us so underweight. He has met a few cats and seems interested but I do not know how he would be with one at home.

This handsome man has had a past not so pleasant. He is a little shy when meeting someone new and will cower when you reach to pet him. He is still a bit underweight (66 pounds) but is putting weight on nicely. Newman is completely house trained and kennel trained. If it is raining and/or muddy outside we have had to go outside with him to make sure he goes potty, he will just stand at the door if you just let him out and hope he will go. Being in the kennel is not his favorite thing and will whine at night if put in a kennel. Newman is a good boy left loose in the house at night and while at work.
