From the Foster:

This black beauty is Akoya, or Koya for short. She came into rescue with Secondhand Hounds two years ago now, pregnant, and with a broken leg from being hit by a car. Where she was before that, we aren't sure, and she has some emotional scars that she carries around, but she is a GOOD dog. After she was a good mama and raised her puppies, they went off to their forever homes, and she has been reflecting and making self improvements.

Akoya is the sweetest  girl with people she knows. She loves laying on the couch with her foster family, watching squirrels, and romping through the snow. She loves to sleep on the end of the bed, watching over her favorite people. When new people come over, she has had the tendency to bark and growl because she is unsure, and she just wants to keep her family safe. However, she has been doing MUCH better with this, with practice!  

Akoya loves going on walks, but she does pull excitedly on a leash, so she does best on a Gentle Leader. She tends to get nervous meeting new dogs on walks, and will bark and growl at them also, but again, she is working on redirecting and doing better! She DOES get along with dogs that she has been properly introduced to - she has historically done better with male dogs, or dogs that are submissive and playful. She has also done well with puppies. 

Akoya is 100% potty trained, and will tell you when she needs to go out. She does well being left loose in the house when you are gone, and she isn't destructive (yay, older dog with training!!) She has made great strides with training, and would continue to do so with an assertive owner. She already knows a lot of commands - she is VERY smart, and loves to please you!! 

This girl is loyal to a fault, and just wants to be the BEST puppy you could ever have. She just needs someone to say YES, Akoya, we believe in you!
